Ceramic Tile
Why Ceramic/Porcelain?Ceramic is dynamic. Its unique character, texture and nature-made material add energy, excitement and enchantment to any room. Ceramic tile has been around for centuries, and with today's technology manufacturers have created new design and application possibilities that were not available a decade ago. If you have never used ceramic tile before or if it has been a long time since you have done so, you will be amazed at the wide selection of colors, sizes, shapes and new textures that are now available. Ceramic tile is a natural product made up of clay, a number of other naturally occurring minerals, and water. Glazed Tile - Most of the common ceramic floor tiles have either a glazed or unglazed surface. The glazed tiles have a special ceramic coating that is applied to the body of the tile and then fired under tremendous heat. The glazing becomes hard and non-porous resulting in flooring that is: • Stain Resistant Unglazed Tile – There is no glazing or any other coating applied to the tile. Their color is the same on the face of the tile as it is on the back resulting in very durable tiles that do not show the effects of heavy traffic. The most common unglazed tiles are the red quarry tiles or the granite looking porcelain ceramic tiles used in heavy commercial areas. Porcelain - Porcelain is a glazed or unglazed tile and is made of an extremely fine porcelain clay composition that produces a dense, impervious, fine tile. Suited for both exterior and interior use, it is frost proof. Porcelain is dense and extremely strong. For residential or commercial use. Natural Stone - For those who love the natural look, natural stone is an attractive choice. Natural stone may be very soft to very dense. Because it comes from the earth, there are great variations in color, as well as textural variations. Created from the forces of nature, natural stone's deep colors, rich textures and visual depth, truly embody the power and beauty of nature.
